OHNO INTERNET CONNECTION WHY DO YOU HAVE TO SCREW UP WHEN I LEAST NEED YOU TO.

(actually i need it to work every day, come to think about it)

ARGH.

ok what that means is that i won't be able to update my regular portals so often.

(NO APCG PHOTOS OF PEOPLE IN ACTION NOOOOOOOOO.)

(NO MSN, NO EMAIL, NO BLOGGING NOOOOOOOOOO.)

so don't expect me to be around so often! but i will be back, i will.

ok i seriously cannot blog late at night because when i reach home and step out of the shower it's already 11. and then there's the next day's stuff to settle.

but honestly, i love apcg to death. i wouldn't trade it for the 1-week break, oh no. i love all the facils too much to do that.

EVERYONE IN APCG LOVES LOVES <3 IT. IT'S NAIS. WE LIKE.

but in exchange for a day-by-day account, here's something else (quotes!):

"THAT'S THE WAY! UH-HUH-UH-HUH! WE LIKE IT!" - trying to shout the song unsuccessfully.
"girls!" - me, pointing at myself

here's a mini-conversation now we had during dinner:

"...aaron tiong..." jianxiong says.
i turn around and walk to their table.
"what?" i ask him.
"no, it's nothing."
i stare at him for about 30 seconds. sharon sitting beside him takes a picture of me.
after 30 seconds i go back to the table i was at to get my food.
i walk back past jianxiong's table and stare at him again.
then sharon says to me(and this is my favourite quote of apcg so far):

"yuanjun."

then she realises what she said and then everyone laughs and goes crazy.
sharon tries to defend herself by getting yuanjun to come over and compare faces.
conclusion is that we both look rather alike.
then because of the mistaken identity,

"where's yuanjun ah?" - sharon
"i don't know, why don't you ask aaron (tiong)?" - me

hilarious stuff. AND!
the yuanjun joke won't end.

and so till now i still call myself as yuanjun in her presence.

i tell her yuanjun has a good memory, because i can remember the slip.

on a few sidenotes,

YES I FINALLY KNOW EVERYBODY'S NAMES (THE RGS FACILS), although i should have posted this yesterday.

CHARLES I SO NEED THE MUNJENGAME VIDEOS. I CANNOT LIVE WITHOUT THEM.

and this is why apcg is the best experience i've had so far.

we're hyper, random, funny, fun-loving, spontaneous, capable, talented, and the list can go on.

but in brief,

I JUST LOVE APCG. PERIOD.

*edit: before i forget, more golden moments!

"charlie..."
"what?"
...
"-makes incoherent noises with tongue and lips-"

- random people reliving "charlie the unicorn".

i dare not watch it, else i become addicted. but i shall one day. =D

my relationship with my family has reached a new low.

if you want an example, i normally never ever say the f-word at home. not even when i'm freaking pissed.

i was about 2 seconds away from saying it.

and i don't normally lose my head too often either.

but the meeting in school with the apcg dudes made up for it big time, so thank you everybody for making my day worthwhile.

it's tomorrow. can you believe it?

wow the last few days have been really really fast-paced, so here's a brief recap:

wednesday: it started off slowly enough (and as usual i got picked on by caipok for sleeping in class), but soon things got really intense.

wednesday afternoon was re (which we are practically dead for) but being able to interact with mr law and the rest of the people under him made up for it. then came SWIM FINALS (WHICH I WAS UNABLE TO GO FOR THANKS TO MY 2NA MEETING *silently curses himself for taking up so many things that they had to clash on the one day where raffles made history*) where we, it's fair to say, OWNED.

and our dearest swim capt and teacher-in-charge kristian and mr azmy got featured! not to mention the imba rainer who got 2 days' worth of pictures and headlines.

whee so that was the highlight of the day/week/month/year (trumping our double tennis gold and the spirited rugby 'b' div finals) in terms of rafflesian sporting achievements.

but of course life goes on. nowhere is this more true than ri. on the same day where the swimmers were rejoicing (and perhaps even throwing people into the pool!) we had the superbig ss documentary.

and so after my 2na meeting at bendemeer road (which i rushed down for) i went straight back to school to finish that up.

until 10.30pm.

but hey i'm not complaining.

if you were a secondary 4 ri student last night chances were you stayed up to finish up the documentary.

the common joke was that just about everybody would be staying up to chiong it.

which resulted in...

today: dead people walking all around the place.

quite possibly the stoniest day in any sec 4 class' history.

but of course having chionged in school the day before, i was a little bit more alert (compared to the poor souls who had to stay up all night literally to finish it).

ok the day started as mufti day. thanks to my conservative/lack of fashion sense i didn't raise too many eyebrows. a lack of it would have, but i think i did enough to avert becoming a walking disaster (and getting imprisoned by the fashion police).

i then strangely enough volunteered to become ticketing manager for hullett df. more on that later.

then came chinese, where caipok conveniently thought i was sleeping when all i was doing was staring at my table (rather stupidly, as if i was the one who had been deprived of sleep), and picked on me again. oh well so much for "pin3 de2 gao1 shang3".

so it's no surprise that everybody has something against the veggie for one reason or another (and no, nic, i'm not referring to you).

on to happier things though - the rest of the day passed without much fanfare, until after school.

ticketing managers' meeting came first, with us needing to emboss, cut and number 840 tickets (!!!!!!!!!!!!) and sell them during week 5 (after apcg, but i shall use apcg to sell some if possible! =D). it's tough work, but hey, i seem to like it that way.

after a mad session of embossing and cutting (where i realised i cannot use a cutter), it was then time to move on to the highlight of the day -

apcg packing.

yes you heard me right.

so the situation was this:

we had to complete:
162 nametags (not as easy as you think. psl first day comm can vouch.)
about 400 bags with at least 10 items each

but it was fun, in a way. it's really something i quite like, this hands-on work.

so i guess saikang is my thing.

coincidentally the 5 who stayed the longest were all uniformed groups people. sort of hints at something eh?

it reminded me too of the day before the first day of orientation camp.

where all the sec 1s (and most of the psls) had gone back for a break before the camp, a few dedicated souls (about 15 of us?) stayed back to pack the 630 bags for orientation.

not an easy job, but it was made enjoyable with the people around.

we were literally laughing at every other sentence for minutes on end.

great stuff. i'd love to relive it.

and even though we stayed until 10+ (and i hadn't even packed my bags for the next day) it was really rewarding. things like that make you feel proud and lucky to have such great friends.

but anyway back to today. it was 3.30, we were supposed to be done by 4.30. so it's a no-brainer, what happened next.

i eventually reached home at 7.45pm. and that was after taking a taxi and shaving almost 45 minutes off my journey.

but the 4 hours which we were there was really great.

and it has all the hallmarks of the sec 1 orientation.

atmosphere was friendly but work-oriented. like on 1 january, i had the sense something great and incredible would emerge.

hopefully it's going to be the same again for apcg!

ahaha finally a happy post. =)

i doubt any other school will ever do the same thing.

RAFFLES FTW.

if they don't give a day off for this the gods are blind.

i don't know if i've blogged about this before. feels like i have.

for me a great scene (in movies, in books, in real life) needs a touching or thought-provoking moment, but also a good setting. no point having a sincere, heartwarming parent-to-child love scene in a fast-food place.

rarely in my life have i had the good fortune to stumble upon such a scene.

it may not seem very significant, but when you see it, it makes the world just stop, for that instant, for you to indulge in that moment, and see things as they are.

when you do see it, the feeling is quite indescribable. it's a sense of serenity and warmth and mostly of happiness, but it could so easily be so much more than that.

it's hard to explain online, but hopefully you'll get what i mean.

i would have loved to take a picture of it if i could, but i wasn't quite courageous enough to ask (it would have sounded very random).

i experienced one such moment in primary 5, when i was talking about things with one of my close friends in the school garden. just the two of us alone, looking out into the distance and just talking.

the setting was absolutely perfect.

you know the kind of weather where the wind blows rather gently across the area, making you feel comfortable, coupled with an overcast sky, with some grey cloud cover but not enough to make the place dark and gloomy, and at the same time not threatening any rain?

that's my dream setting. it doesn't come around too often, and when it does, it's usually too short. but when it lasts long enough for something almost magical to happen, it's quite special.

in fact, it doesn't need to be a magical moment. even a simple, heartfelt, normal, everyday scene we take for granted can make us feel good inside, if we bother to stop and realise that we do take it for granted, and truly enjoy the moment.

it occured once 5 years ago. it occured again today.

it was after cca, at about 6pm. for once we had ended early, so we were all packing up and ready to go off.

a few of the guitar guys were sitting at the steps at the raffles square, so i decided to go over and have a look.

i realised it was eugene (our guitar ensemble ccal) and marcus (our campus superstar and XD singer!) practising a few songs (apparently for something tomorrow), together with some other guys just sitting around.

however, after a while, it was just eugene and marcus left, and so i sat there, watching and listening to eugene play the guitar while marcus sang the songs. (he's pretty darn good, of course.)

and for the 5-7 minutes i sat there, listening to the songs, i felt that feeling of warmth and just an overall sense of peace.

that isn't an emo feeling, but this post sure is turning out to be.

it was just so nice to listen to and watch in a way.

and of course the setting was that cloudy, windy one.

now you see why asking to take a picture of it would have been rather paiseh. it would be so random to suddenly ask to take a picture of them.

but my gut instinct was that it would make a really good picture. it would have said a lot. (at least, to me.)

haha i'm really prone to feeling bouts of emotion about really normal things aren't i?

but i guess that's better than no emotion at all. better to have lived well than to have lived long.
